Parents
An essential element of building a community of support for ourselves and our children involves the Parent Participation Program. Parents of school children are expected to volunteer for 50 hours of school or church related volunteer service activities. Single parent families must accumulate 25 hours through the school year. Please see our Parent Participation Guidelines.
We need the help and support of each parent to help our students reach their fullest potential. Parents are encouraged to participate in the educational process. We need the support and cooperation of parents to effectively help each student reach their fullest potential. The major role of parents in assisting with school discipline and responsibility is to consistently demonstrate interest and support in how their child is doing in school.
We believe that both parents and teachers provide significant role models for students; therefore, we encourage consistency between what is promoted or allowed at home, and what is permissible or encouraged at school.
How Parents Can Help
- Take an active interest in your child's work and life at school.
- Get to know their child's teacher and other parents by attending Meet the Teachers Night, parent conferences, and other social activities throughout the year.
- Encourage creative projects, independent inquiry and extra reading at home.
- Open communication between parents and teachers is always encouraged. Email contacts can be found on our staff link.
- Read carefully all items that are sent home in the white envelope each week so that you will be aware of school activities, requirements, sports, special events, student achievements and casual dress days.
- Give your child all the time and support they may need for special projects and assignments... but let the final product be their own.
